Mount Baldy

Short, convenient drive to high point above Colorado Springs. An exhilarating backcountry experience with great views of the front range. Unlicensed vehicles are permitted on F.S. 379 but not on Gold Camp Road. Service road to towers at top 12,349-ft. Almagre Mountain is usually in good condition, but rock falls on the upper portion of road can increase difficulty. Gate stops vehicles near top. Suitable for stock, high-clearance, 4WD SUVs if trail is clear of rocks and snow.
